Sometimes it’s the betas that show the really cool stuff that’s coming down the line.
After a quick look at the iOS 18 developer beta, all four iPhone 15 models will use a setting that prevents the devices from charging beyond 80 percent while toggled on, which can potentially improve an iPhone battery’s lifespan by reducing the time that the battery is fully charged. The new feature will allow users to work with 85 percent, 90 percent, and 95 percent charging limit options.
The feature can be found in the Settings app under Battery → Charging.
The new options currently remain exclusive to the iPhone 15 lineup under the first iOS 18 beta, and the option was not found on the iPhone 14 Pro or older.
The first iOS 18 beta has been released through the Apple Developer Program, and a public beta will be released in July. Following beta testing, the iOS 18 update should be widely released to all users with an iPhone XS or newer in September.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
