WWDC: Apple publishes a list of Macs that will be incompatible with the upcoming macOS Sonoma operating system

There’s give and take with every major operating system upgrade, which was presented on Monday at the WWDC event. Apple will be leaving some Macs behind with its release of macOS Sonoma, its upcoming operating system for the Mac.

The update will drop support for the following Macs:

  • 2017 MacBook Pro
  • 2017 MacBook Air
  • 2017 MacBook (12-Inch)

The operating system will remain compatible with the following Macs:

  • MacBook Pro: 2018 and later
  • MacBook Air: 2018 and later
  • Mac mini: 2018 and later
  • iMac: 2019 and later
  • iMac Pro: 2017
  • Mac Studio: 2022 and later
  • Mac Pro: 2019 and later

macOS Sonoma will likely be released to the public this October along much the same schedule as the macOS Ventura and macOS Monterey operating systems were.
