Stick around and the networking protocols will get faster.
The Wi-Fi 6 protocol launched on Monday. Based on the 802.11ax standard, the new protocol offers the following nifty bells and whistles:
- Higher data rates
- Increased capacity
- Performance in environments with many connected devices
- Improved power efficiency
The new standard is supported by the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max handsets, all of which support the Wi-Fi 6 protocol. This should also come in handy for streaming ultra high-definition video, business applications that need high bandwidth and low latency, and the increased power efficiency should help improve iPhone battery life.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
