My goal was to build a system that behaved like it belonged in a vehicle. That meant everything had to be fully automatic, and not require any on/off switches or wait for boot time. The PowerBook was well suited for this, since it already has it’s own power source allowing the system to go in sleep mode, it only takes about 5 to 10 seconds from the time you turn power on in the car until music resumes playing wherever it left off. I hope to reduce this time even further once OS X is released, since OS X takes only one second to wake from sleep.
