Rumor: Next-gen iMacs could feature even larger displays, extensive hardware redesign

A credible leak released on Friday by leaker “l0vetodream” indicated that with the release of newly redesigned iMacs, which are expected this year, Apple could feature an even larger display for the new models.

Apple currently sells a 21.5-inch and 27-inch ‌iMac‌. The company is rumored to be replacing both with updated designs and faster performance. Its desktop computer has not received a significant overhaul since 2012.

Per the leak, Apple is thought to be replacing its 27-inch display with a larger display. The private tweet translates to “The ‌iMac‌’s screen is really big, bigger than the biggest one”.

Bloomberg has indicated that the new ‌iMac‌ will feature slimmer bezels, the removal of the metal chin, and a design language similar to the Pro Display XDR. The Pro Display XDR, Apple’s standalone high-end monitor, features a 32-inch display.

Finally, Apple is thought to be including its new Apple Silicon chips within the new design, and the company is rumored to be testing chips with as many as 16 high-performance cores and four efficiency cores, according to Bloomberg.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
