Additional rumors have surfaced as to Apple planning to release a trio of iPhone models this fall, all three incorporating Face ID authentication technology.
The report, via Bloomberg, states that Apple is looking at producing 6.5-inch screen, with a body about the same size as the iPhone 8 Plus. An edge-to-edge design in the “D33” model, such as that in the iPhone X, would allow for a large OLED screen without significantly increasing the size of the enclosure.
The largest of the rumored models is said to boast a screen resolution of 1,242 x 2,588, thereby giving it the same pixel density as that of the iPhone X.
The rumored “D32” is said to be “an update to the regular-sized iPhone X,” and a gold color is said to be under development. It has yet to be confirmed whether Apple will bring the gold-colored units to market.
Apple is also expected to introduce its “A12” processor along with iOS 12, thereby keeping in line with its previous processor and iOS releases. Possible inclusions in the new phones are either dual-SIM capability, or inclusion of the nascent E-SIM technology.
It’s also thought that Apple’s “low-end” model will feature Face ID alongside a relatively-cheaper LCD screen. This unit is predicted to have aluminum edges and a glass back like the iPhone 8.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
