Apple is rumored to be prepping a new version of its Siri assistant, complete with a generative AI and other new functionalities for its Worldwide Developer Conference this summer.
Per Korean social media site Naver and tech news aggregator account “yeux1122” on the site, Apple has recently made progress with integrating generative AI into Siri using its Ajax-based model. The new version of Siri touts natural conversation capabilities, as well as increased user personalization.
The new features are believed to be available across devices, suggesting that the updated version of Siri will be capable of retaining conversational information and histories from one device to another. It is also said to feature a new “Apple-specific creational service,” which might relate to the previously reported Siri-based Shortcuts capabilities rumored for iOS 18.
Apple is said to have been working on linkages for the new version of Siri to connect to various external services such as an API. It’s also been rumored that Apple’s new AI could differ based on subscription service status, although the specifics of this have yet to be made publicly available.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
