The rumor mill has it that Apple is expected to keep its anticipated iPhone SE 4 model on the relatively cheap end.
Per AppleInsider and noted leaker “yeux1122,” the upcoming handset will remain Apple’s most affordable model, but its price could go up to $500. Previous reports indicated that the iPhone SE 4 would remain a sub-$500 device.
yeux1122 offered the following comment via their blog:
“The information about the shipping price of the Apple iPhone SE 4th generation model has come out again [via a] Jatpanese news agency channel. It’s a Japanese source with Apple’s own chip, etc., 500 dollars or less.”
It’s thought that the iPhone SE 4 will be the first iPhone to use an Apple-designed 5G modem. All 5G iPhones to date have used Qualcomm modems, but Apple has been working to replace the third-party’s chipset. The rumor did not identify which Japanese news agency was reporting the price.
The current iPhone SE retails for $429, so Apple has room to increase the price by up to $70 and still be below $500. Whatever price it comes in at, though, it will surely be the lowest-cost Apple Intelligence device in Apple’s lineup. Apple has yet to officially announce the launch date for the iPhone SE 4, and it’s thought that the handset will resemble the iPhone 14, including the move from a Home button to Face ID.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
