Rumor: Apple to debut M4 MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iPad mini following October hardware event

The rumor mill is in full swing, and with Apple’s next hardware event said to take place in late October, it’s thought that the company will introduce M4-based versions of the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iPad mini on November 1.

Apple is thought to be introducing an M4 version of its MacBook Pro notebook, offering a low-end 14-inch model as well as higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch models featuring the M4 Pro or M4 Max chips in late October.

Per Bloomberg, Apple is also thought to be working on an M4 version of the Mac mini, the rumors predicting a new smaller form factor as well as the unit offering five USB Type-C ports instead of USB-A.

A revision to the iMac is possible, but almost nothing has been rumored about it recently, other than a possible 32-inch version. The MacBook Pro and Mac mini releases seem like a lock for November 1.

Neither the iPad nor the iPad mini have been updated for quite some time. The iPad was last refreshed in the fall of 2022, while the iPad mini hasn’t seen an update in three years.

For the iPad mini, there are a lot more possibilities, including a shift of the front camera to the side so it can be better used in a landscape orientation. There are also thoughts that the rear camera could be updated to a 48MP sensor to match the iPhone 16, rather than staying on a 12MP version.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
