You can use an iPhone in a movie, just with certain stipulations.
Acclaimed (and, in some corners, infamous) director Rian Johnson sat down for an interview with Vanity Fair, discussed “Knives Out,” and explained that Apple generally doesn’t like the bad guys to be seen using iPhones onscreen.
“I don’t know if I should say this or not,” the Knives Out director said in a new video. “Not because it’s lascivious or something, but because it’s gonna screw me on the next mystery movie that I write. But forget it, I’ll say it, it’s very interesting. Apple, they let you use iPhones in movies—but, and this is very pivotal, if you’re ever watching a mystery movie, bad guys cannot have iPhones on camera.”
Granted, there are exceptions, and the Reddit comments heavily debate these, but the folks from Cupertino like to see their top selling handset in the hands of the do-gooders, if at all possible.
