It’s the leaks that make technology interesting.
A pair of images have surfaced on Chinese social media website Weibo, the poster alleging them to be pre-assembly pieces for the 5.4-inch “iPhone 12” handset.
The images, published by “Seekdevice” on Weibo, depict a screen assembly with the familiar notch, minus the TrueDepth camera and other sensors.
The images were also briefly posted to Slashleaks prior to their speedy removal for unknown reasons.
While the leaker has a decent track record for accuracy, especially in terms of iPhone and other mobile devices, there’s no way to authenticate the images. It’s also possible that these could be intended for an iPhone knock-off or other device with a notch.
Apple is expected to release four new models as part of its “iPhone 12” lineup. Specifically, the lineup is said include a lower-priced 5.4-inch “iPhone 12” as is allegedly depicted here, a 6.1-inch “iPhone 12 Plus,” a 6.1-inch “iPhone 12 Pro,” and a 6.8-inch “iPhone 12 Pro Max.”
The four models are expected to feature OLED displays, as well as 5G connectivity. The lower-tier units are expected to feature a dual-camera setup and 4GB of RAM, while the Pro models are expected to boast a triple-lens camera, a 120Hz ProMotion display, and 6GB of RAM.
Apple is rumored to announce the next-gen iPhones on September 8th, with a shipment window between late September and early November.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
