Panic’s Desktasktic is a fun little application that allow you to doodle directly on the Mac OS X desktop by covering it with an invisible “white board” layer. If you find yourself using stickies (either analog or digital) or are constantly jotting down notes then you need to check this program out.
In addition to the free form drawing tool I find the text tool to be really handy for taking quick notes and leaving myself reminders. By default, Desktastic’s white board sits above your icons, but underneath your windows. For some real fun turn on the “draw-on-top” toggle which allows you to draw on top of everything on your screen – excellent for annotating Web pages and documents during video conferences.
Desktastic costs US$13 and a free 15-day demo is available. Also worth a mention is Panic’s excellent Transmit2 FTP client which features an excellent Mac OS X interface, built-in text editor and Rendezvous support for finding local servers quickly, a PowerPage Power Pick.
