Old Jewel Software has released One Finger Snap, a utility for Mac OS X that lets you bring up the contextual menu by simply clicking and holding the mouse button down. While most Mac users find the right mouse button very convenient, Apple continues to sell only one-button (or no-button) mice and trackpads.
Users then are left with a choice between giving up on some great, time-saving features in the contextual menu, or spending more money for a two-button mouse. PowerBook owners face the further inconvenience of having yet one more device to carry around with them when they travel. And users who are migrating from Windows can find it frustrating that they no longer have that quick access that the right mouse button gave them in their old OS.
One Finger Snap attempts to make this entire issue moot. It’s a System Preferences Pane that lets your computer bring up the contextual menu with a single button mouse. One Finger Snap is designed to work with any Macintosh running Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4.
