NOVATEL WIRELESS LAUNCHES FIRST WIRELESS PC CARD FOR METRICOM’S RICOCHET(tm) 128 KBPS NETWORK
SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – December 13, 2000 – Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVTL), a leading provider of wireless data modems and software, today announced that its Merlin(tm) Wireless PC Card Modem received certification for Metricom, Inc.’s (Nasdaq: MCOM) Ricochet 128 kbps wireless mobile access network. The Merlin for Ricochet(tm) began shipping to Novatel Wireless distributors this week, and commercial availability is expected later in the month. The Merlin for Ricochet is a Type II PC Card that takes advantage of Ricochet technology to provide wireless data communications at end-user speeds of 128 kbps.
