With CPU temperatures exceeding 76C / 170F under load, this G5 iMac was crashing after just 40 minutes. The solution was a ghetto mod involving a 120mm Pabst case fan – it won’t win any design awards, and might cause Steve Jobs to cry himself to sleep at night. But it shouldn’t void the Apple warranty, and brought temperatures back within reasonable levels for a very minimal cost.
