LinuxPPC 2000 Q4 Boots on PowerBook G4

Jason Haas of the LinuxPPC movement sends us word (“LinuxPPC 2000 Q4 successfully boots on the Apple PowerBook G4 Titanium“) that the latest version of the LinuxPPC operating system, LinuxPPC 2000 Q4, successfully boots on the latest PowerBook family member. Here’s part of the note about compability:

The Linux kernel, X Windows (Linux’s GUI system), and the LinuxPPC Installer all successfully boot from the LinuxPPC 2000 Q4 CD-ROM on the PowerBook G4. It is not known at this time if the internal modem or Ethernet work, but it is unlikely that they will not work.

On the logic board level, the PowerBook G4 is apparently very similar to the Power Mac G4 Cube, which is a functional Linux machine. Thus, the internal modem and Ethernet are expected to work.

Linux geeks, let the drooling begin!
