Larian Studios executive confirms Baldur’s Gate 3 not headed to iPadOS

If you were dreaming of Baldur’s Gate 3 hitting the iPad following a rumor that this port was en route, it won’t be happening.

While Apple has recently gone out of its way to attract AAA game developers to its Mac, iOS, and iPadOS platforms, going so far as to develop a game porting kit that can port just about anything that runs on Windows to Apple Silicon, software developer Larian, which has a native port of Baldur’s Gate 3 for the Mac, has nixed the rumor that the game would be headed to the iPad.

When asked about the validity of this rumor, Michael Douse, the Director of Publishing for Larian Studios, replied “Ur source is silly.”

Larian did praise Apple hardware though, in a follow-up tweet.

“I am consistently impressed with Apple tech. It’s wild, but I’m not up to date with it. Their engineers however are clearly best in class. M1 was space-age shit. Continues to impress.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 arrived on Mac in September 2023 via Steam for $59.99. It won several awards for gameplay and being story-rich.

The game requires an M1 chip with 8GB of RAM/Unified Memory to play along with 150GB of SSD storage to install and run.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
