If you’re irate over your MacBook’s butterfly keyboard, there’s a class action lawsuit you can participate in.
Judge Edward Davila on Monday approved a class action lawsuit against Apple over its butterfly keyboards. Eligible customers can join the suit in these seven states: California, New York, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, Washington, and Michigan.
The case centers around MacBooks sold between 2015 and 2017 as well as a MacBook Pro sold between 2016 and 2019, and a MacBook Air sold between 2018 and 2019.
During this time, Apple’s butterfly keyboard design proved controversial amid many user complaints, such as the accumulation of dust around the switches, or that some key presses failed to register. Apple issued an apology in 2019 after Joanna Stern of The Wall Street Journal publicly complained in a column.
The lawsuit cites that Apple knew about the keyboard issues for years, and accuses the company
of violating several laws, including California’s Unfair Competition Law, the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, and the Michigan Consumer Protection Act.
Users with an affected MacBook sold during the above years can join the suit via the link below.
