With the debut of the well-received M4 Mac mini, several vendors have begun offering internal SSD updates for the desktop, with one revealing that it has prototyped a model for the M4 Pro version.
The latest firm to release such an upgrade, iBoff RCC, details at some length how it designed its SSD from scratch. While matching Apple’s physical profile, the company insists it has improved on Apple’s design instead of copying it. In a recent YouTube video about designing and fitting the M4 Mac mini version, the company reveals that it has an 8TB edition specifically for the M4 Pro edition. The upgrade is currently at the prototype stage.
This comes at a time when iBoff RC’s M4 Mac mini SSD upgrade keeps selling out, but Apple has yet to officially sanction upgrades for any model of the M4 Mac mini. iBoff RCC, for its part, seems to be continuing to work on the project and may have re-engineered an M4 Mac mini upgraded storage that it claims is faster than Apple’s own.
