This is why the accessory industry exists in the first place.
Apple accessory maker Griffin has recently announced a MagSafe power plug that’s compatible with the 12-inch MacBook notebook, which features a solitary USB-C port. One of the chief criticisms of the USB-C port is that it doesn’t use a magnetic connection and can damage the notebook if tripped over.
Griffin’s accessory, dubbed the “Breaksafe Magnetic USB-C Power Cable”, seeks to prevent this.
At 12.8mm deep, the magnetic connector can be plugged into the MacBook and left there. The user can then touch the accompanying six foot power cable as you would on a MacBook Pro or Air to charge the notebook.
The adapter currently retails for $40 and doesn’t arrive with a USB-C power adapter.
Griffin has stated that the Breaksafe power cable will arrive in April of this year.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
