It’s been a hit on the Android platform, and it’s now available for iOS devices.
Google has announced that its Magic Eraser software, which can automatically remove unwanted parts of a picture and debuted with the Pixel 6, will no longer be exclusive to phones with its custom chips. Starting on Thursday, it’s going to be rolling out to Google One subscribers who use the Google Photos app on Android or iOS as well as “all Pixel users.” Prior to this, the software was only available for devices using Google’s Tensor processors.
The Magic Eraser function, as well as the “Camouflage” function, allow users to desaturate potentially distracting objects from a picture as opposed to erasing them entirely. These will be available with any level of Google One plan, and Pixel users won’t be required to have a plan to obtain it.
Google has also stated that it’s adding editing features like an HDR effect for videos and exclusive collage editor styles for Google One subscribers and Pixel users. The company says it could be a few weeks before everyone gets access to the new photo editing features.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
