CarPlay will be coming to all 2017 Ford models equipped with the Sync 3 system. Ford has stated that the 2017 Escape, which goes on sale early this year, will be the first to receive CarPlay as well as support Android Auto.
Ford says that CarPlay will also be available as an upgrade to 2016 models later in the year.
Apple CarPlay features Siri voice control, and seamlessly integrates an iPhone with the car’s built-in display and controls.
For owners of older cars, Ford has announced a software update to Sync that would add Siri Eyes Free support to more than five million vehicles dating back to 2011. While that’s not CarPlay, it does give some access to Siri while on the move.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available and if you’ve had a chance to test out CarPlay, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
