Sources tell me that Apple will release Mac OS 10.4 (a.k.a. “Tiger“) in January at Macworld Expo San Francisco. During his keynote address at WWDC this June Steve Jobs said that Tiger, the fifth major version of Mac OS X, will ship in the “first half of 2005.” Most skeptics interpret “first half” to mean June so a January announcement would be a pleasant surprise. Apple is trying to time the Tiger release with the PowerBook G5 introduction.
