Content Viruses Emerging


Mobile technologists tend to get their fix of daily news, reviews and rumors from Web based publications (such as the one that you are reading) more than they do from traditional print publications – which can be expensive and dated. For that reason you should be aware of a new generation of virus that are being embedded in content publications in the form of innocuous looking Web pages.

Network Computing’s Michael J. DeMaria examines new methods of combating these pesky little crawlers:

A content inspector, which scans files and Web pages for malicious content, is an effective way to stop macro viruses, Trojan horses and harmful Java applets in their tracks. Aladdin Knowledge Systems’ eSafe Gateway provides content security and integrates well with existing network protection devices, but we ran into a few bugs during testing.
