First, the good news: the new Ecler NUO4 has been launched, and it’s got some hot features, including completely-assignable controls so you can easily integrate computers running software like Traktor DJ or Ableton Live. See specs and details at create digital music. Assign a crossfader or knob, for instance, and you have instant software control; you can even label your assignments with included magnets. The mixer interfaces with your computer via either MIDI or USB cables.
Now, the bad news: Ecler made the customization software Windows-only. You should still be able to use the mixer without the software, but with so many DJs are Mac based, from amateurs to world-touring pros, you have to wonder what Ecler was thinking. I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything.
