My girlfriend and I have a home network set up and are looking for a way to centralize our schedules. I have a Quicksilver G4 and a TiBook, along with a Sony Ericsson T68i. She has a Dell laptop and a Palm m100. She’s keeping her calendar info in Palm Desktop. Mine’s in iCal, but I’d be happy to switch to Entourage since I can sync with the T68i from there as well and I’m not all that fond of iCal. I keep calendar (and other) data synced between the two Macs using Duover, and use iSync with the T68i.
How do we centralize our calendars? Is there either a synchronization method or some kind of server I can install that will talk to one or both Macs (either Entourage or iCal) and to the PC (Palm Desktop or, I suppose, Outlook or anything else that’ll work with the Palm?) I’m not particular about the method so much, just want some kind of centralized schedule that will be easy to maintain once it’s set up. Ideally if there’s server software involved it would run on the Mac rather than the PC, especially since the desktop G4 is the only computer that’s always there, on, and externally accessible.
Power On Software has an excellent multi-user calendar in Now Up-To-Date, and Entourage invitations work really well, but I don’t know about the Dell laptop. You should start by losing that. -Ed
