Apple Watch Edition buyers begin receiving notifications of shipping dates, are allowed to choose custom delivery times

applewatchedition

If you’re among the mucho-wealthy who ordered an Apple Watch Edition, the shipment times have started to come in.

A number of Edition buyers have begun receiving shipping notifications and credit card charges for their units. Emails sent to the customers ask them to pick a specific delivery time, as long as it fits within courier hours and days of operation.

The Edition features 18-karat gold layered into its chassis, controls and some of its band components and is priced at US$10,000 and up with some models going as high as US$17,000.

Many other Watch orders have been shipping since April 24, but until now the earliest preorders of the Edition have still been waiting for delivery. The delay is again presumably because of the use of gold, which requires different manufacturing processes than aluminum or steel, including hand polishing.

Apple Watch buyers can take longer amounts of time with their try-on appointments in areas that are typically segregated from the rest of the Apple Store location. In addition, the Edition’s unique box also doubles as a charging dock.

It is unconfirmed as to whether the Edition buyers are fanned with palm leaves and fed grapes as they try on the device.
