After months of waiting, Apple’s new iPhone 11 has been announced.
And its seems nifty.
Following up on its “By Innovation Only” media event on Tuesday, Apple stated that its iPhone 11 would start at $699, which is $50 less than the introductory price for the iPhone XR, which is replaces. The iPhone 11 will be available on September 19th.
The company stated that pre-order begin on Friday, September 13th, and units will ship and be available in stores on September 20th.
The iPhone 11 also offers the following new features:
Upgraded Camera: The new camera has been upgraded to a 12-megapixel dual-lens setup that replaces the single-lens camera found on the iPhone XR. The camera includes a 26mm, 6-element, f1.8 wide camera with optical image stabilization and 100 percent Focus Pixels, and a 13mm, 5-element f2.4 ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view.
Night Mode: The new camera features a night mode that triggers automatically and brightens images shot in dark environments. Apple has stated that in this mid, multiple images with optical image stabilization are taken, and these images are used to fix motion blur, adjust contrast, correct the color, and adjusts the image noise to produce an ideal photo.
Dual-Lens: Apple has redesigned its user interface for the camera app to support the new dual camera hardware. When looking through the wide camera, the new immersive interface displays the ultra-wide scene in the background of the camera interface, so you can get an idea of what the shot will look like in ultra-wide.
Upgraded Video: The iPhone 11 can use both rear cameras to record 4K video at 60 frames per second. The ultra wide lens allows up to four times to be captured. When you zoom into your subject, the audio can zoom in as well. A new user interface element called “Quick Take” allows you to quickly switch between shooting pictures to shooting video.
12-Megapixel TrueDepth Front Camera: The new camera sports a wider lens as well as slow-motion support that allows for slow-motion selfies, or “slowfies.” The slow motion capture can use 4K video at either 60 or 120 frames per second.
A13 Bionic Processor: Apple has upgraded from the A12 Bionic processor found in the iPhone XR to the A13 Bionic processor, which the company says is 20 percent faster than its predecessor. Apple has stated that the 13 Bionic “is built for machine learning,” sporting a faster Neural Engine Machine Learning Accelerators “that allow the CPU to deliver more than 1 trillion operations per second.”
All Glass Design Available in Six Colors: Finally, the iPhone 11 features an all-glass body as well as a 6.1-inch liquid retina display. The handset sports an IP68 rating for water resistance up to two meters for up to 30 minutes. The unit is available in black, green, Product(Red), purple, white, and yellow colors.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
