If you’re traveling through France, this could definitely come in handy.
Apple has begun rolling out support for Tap to Pay on iPhone in France, allowing French merchants to take contactless payments via their smartphones.
As expected, the NFC technology allows retailers to take contactless payments from smartphones and enable credit and debit cards through the iPhone itself, without requiring any other dedicated equipment.
France has become the eighth country to gain the iPhone feature, following recent rollouts in the UK, the Netherlands, and Ukraine.
The introduction was supported by the BCPE group along with several payment processors, including SumUp, Revolut, and Viva Wallet, with others including BNP Paribas, Credit Cooperatif, and Stripe to follow.
The launch also allows for Tap to Pay on iPhone to be used in all Apple Stores in the country, as well as major brand stores such as Christian Dior Couture, Dyson, and Sezane.
If you’ve had a chance to try the new feature in France, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
