Apple thought to be prepping iOS 16.1.1 to address Wi-Fi connectivity, others issues

If you’ve been having trouble with your Wi-Fi connection on your iPhone, a fix may be on the way.

Apple is apparently preparing an iOS 16.1.1 update for the iPhone to address bugs and issues experienced by users following the first major update to the iOS 16 operating system two weeks ago, including a persistent Wi-Fi bug that’s been annoying ‌iPhone‌ customers.

Per MacRumors, there’s been some behavior of devices running iOS 16.1.1 in the site’s website analytics, which could indicate testing on Apple’s part. Although it’s presently unclear what specific fixes this update could include, it could offer a fix for the widespread and persistent Wi-Fi bug that’s impacted assorted iOS 16.1 users. The bug causes a user’s ‌iPhone‌ to randomly disconnect from Wi-Fi when left on standby, such as overnight or in other situations.

The fix could also address other bugs that have surfaced since the iOS 16 launch in September. These issues include reports of battery drain, slow Spotlight search, and laggy animations on iPhone 14 Pro models when swiping out of apps. For new features, iOS 16.1.1 could include Emergency SOS via Satellite for iPhone 14 and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ models.

iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 are currently in the public beta testing stage, and iOS 16.2 is slated to be launched come mid-December.

If you’ve seen this Wi-Fi connection issue with your iPhone and iOS 16.1, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
