If you received an iPhone battery repair from a repair shop, it’s now eligible for repairs at both Apple Store Genius Bars and Apple Authorized Service providers.
Prior to this, both Genius Bars and Apple Authorized Service Providers were instructed to deny repairs for third-party iPhone batteries. As of now, if the repair isn’t related to your battery, it can qualify for official Apple repairs.
In order for Apple to recognize the third-party repairs, the battery needs to be drained to less than 60 percent of its original charge. If the battery tabs are broken or missing, or there is too much adhesive, Genius Bars and Apple Authorized Service Providers may replace the whole iPhone for only the cost of a battery replacement. This is at their discretion and isn’t guaranteed.
So, if you got your iPhone battery replaced by a third-party provider and want to have it replaced again, there’s a good chance you’ll be welcomed back into Apple’s open arms.
Please let us know if you get a chance to try this and what your experience was like.
And, as always, stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
