Apple seems to be testing iPhone battery support program via Canadian Apple Support app

If you’re north of the border, this is relevant to you.

Apple seems to be launching a trial of its iPhone battery replacement program in Canada. The company has geared support its app to take names for particular iPhone models and says the app will alert users when the battery is available locally.

The program appears to be handled specifically though the Apple Support app. Users wanting to replace their battery select Get Support, select the phone in question, choose battery, power, charging as a service desired, then they are presented the option to Reserve a Battery.

The functionality does not seem to have surfaced for the U.S. version of the app as of this writing, but the overall replacement program seems to try to source the required battery from the local store. Upon location the battery, the app then informs the user that the battery will be placed on hold for seven days prior to the battery being released into general stock and the reservation is cancelled.

It’s unclear as to how long any given battery will be back-ordered and the much-requested iPhone 6 battery stock seems to be running low and may need to be hunted around for prior to finding one.

If you’ve had a chance to try this feature through the Canadian version of the Apple Support app, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
