Reader Greg Weston gives us the skinny on the new Apple store going up in Connecticut:
The Apple Store in West Hartford CT is a in smallish mall on the WestHartford/Farmington border. While the mall itself is not sized likethose in, say, Michigan or New Jersey, it’s a fairly affluent area andhighly trafficked as a result of the presence of two substantial stripmalls and several large free-standing businesses within walkingdistance.

The mall itself has 5 anchor locations, including Nordstromand 3 May Company (Lord & Taylor, Filenes, et al) sites. The mall alsohas several entrance corridors separate from the anchors. The Applestore is two doors down from Nordstrom, directly across the buildingfrom one of the entrance corridors.
It’s the upscale/trendy end of anupscale/trendy mall. Nearby stores include Victorinox (buy a translucentknife), Victoria’s Secret (buy some translucent undies), RestorationHardware, Williams/Sonoma, a book store and the like. Apple’s locationis large, consuming the space of two previous tenants. It’s pretty barebehind the wall so far.
There’s no Apple dealer I’m aware of in several miles of the location. There is a Sears (and a Gateway Country) across the street. The nearestdecent Apple retailer (Computer Resources…Hi, Ken) is a good 20-25minute drive.
