Apple on Thursday released watchOS 7.6.1, a minor update that also incorporates important security fixes. The update fixes a memory issue that may have been actively exploited in the wild, so Apple Watch users should upgrade as soon as possible.
This is the same issue that Apple previously addressed in iOS 14.7.1 and macOS Big Sur 11.5.1.
The watchOS 7.6.1 update can be downloaded for free through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General > Software Update.
To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it needs to be placed on a charger, and it needs to be in range of the iPhone.
If you’ve tried the watchOS 7.6.1 update, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
