Apple releases macOS Catalina 10.15.5 Supplemental Update, patches security vulnerabilities

You can’t say the updates aren’t coming out quickly.

One week after its macOS Catalina 10.15.5 update, Apple on Monday afternoon released its macOS Catalina 10.15.5 Supplemental Update.

The release notes read as follows:

macOS Catalina 10.15.5 supplemental update provides important security updates and is recommended for all users.

Some features may not be available for all regions, or on all Apple devices. For detailed information about the security content of this update, please visit: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211215

The support article highlights how the update fixes a kernel exploit that could allow an application to execute arbitrary code. Apple directly referred to the unc0ver exploit that allowed users to jailbreak iOS devices.

macOS Catalina 10.15.5 introduced battery health management to the operating system, which first appeared in iPhones and was originally released on May 27th.

If you’ve tried the update and have any feedback to offer, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
