Apple releases iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2 updates

Apple on Tuesday releases its long-awaited iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 operating systems.

The updates offer the following new features and fixes:

  • iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 include the addition of Apple’s new Freeform collaboration app, which allows users to work with friends or colleagues on Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
  • The Apple Music Sing, an Apple Music feature that allows you to sing along to your favorite songs with real-time lyrics and adjust the vocals’ volume. It uses an on-device machine-learning algorithm that separates vocals and the background music in real time.
  • A new security option for iCloud called “Advanced Data Protection.
  • Changes to Lock Screen customization and Always-On Display
  • AirDrop’s “Everyone” option can now only be enable for 10 minutes at a time.

Whether you’re on an iPhone or iPad, updating follows the same steps:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Navigate to General > Software Update.
  • You should see the option to install iOS 16.2 or iPadOS 16.2.

If the new version doesn’t appear immediately, check again after an hour or so.
