Apple releases iOS 11.4, HomePod 11.4, tvOS 11.4, watchOS 4.3.1 and iTunes 12.7.5 updates

Today was the day that Apple updated just about everything under the sun.

Leading off, Apple released iOS 11.4 for its iOS devices. The update offers the following fixes and changes:

– AirPlay 2

– Multi-room speaker support

– ClassKit support for schools

– Messages in the Cloud

HomePod 11.4 was also released today, offering updates such as AirPlay 2, stereo speaker support and multi-room speaker support. If you’d like to install the update now, launch the Home app on your iPhone or iPad, tap the location icon, and select Software Update in the Speakers Section.

The company also released tvOS 11.4, which adds support for AirPlay 2, and lets you use target speakers with your AirPlay setup.

AirPlay 2 supports speakers in multiple rooms, and Apple says compatible speakers are coming from Bang & Olufsen, Bluesound, Bose, Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Libratone, Marantz, Marshall, Naim, Pioneer and Sonos.

With an Apple TV or AirPort Express you can use other speakers, too. You can, for example, play the same music on your HomePod, Apple TV speakers, and speakers connected to an AirPort Express in different rooms without any latency.

tvOS 11.4 can be installed by going into the Settings app on your Apple TV and go to System > Software Updates.

Apple also released watchOS 4.3.1 for the Apple Watch on Tuesday. The update is mostly bug fixes, and also adds a warning when users launch apps compiled for watchOS 1.

watchOS 4.3.1 is available for all Apple Watch models.

watchOS 4.3.1 can be installed by placing the Apple Watch in its charger, connecting to a WiFi network, having at least a 50 percent charge, going to the Watch app on your iPhone, tapping My Watch, going to General, and selecting Software Update.

Finally, Apple released iTunes 12.7.5. The new version incorporates “minor app and performance improvements,” which isn’t extremely specific on any level.

If you’re tried these updates and have any feedback to offer, please let us know what you think in the comments.
