If you snagged Apple’s AirPods Max wireless headphones, this may help.
Apple on Tuesday released version 3C39 of its AirPods Max firmware. The update is thought to address battery drain issues reported by some customers and replaces firmware version 3C16, which originally shipped with the AirPods Max units.
Unlike other Apple software updates, there isn’t a direct menu or button to initiate the update. The AirPods Max will continue to function as normal, and the update will eventually install on its own. Users can view the status of the firmware in the Bluetooth menu of the Settings app.
Users can work to force the update by connecting their iPhone to a power source while the AirPods Max headphones are connected via Bluetooth.
There have been concerns about battery drain when the AirPods Max are left idle, with some owners stating that they would drain significantly when not in use.
If you’ve had a chance to try the new firmware update, please let us know about your experience in the comments.
