Apple Pay will be available south of the border come 2021.
Apple has confirmed via its web site that Apple Pay support will arrive in Mexico sometime in 2021. There had been previous indications as to the launch, and earlier this month, Apple updated its website to say support was coming “very soon.”
Although a clearer release date is currently unavailable, it’s thought that this could roll out in the first half of the year.
Leading up to this, code found within the Apple Pay website suggested that the payment platform will be compatible with Mexican banks like Banregio, Hey Banco, Inbursa, and CitiBanamex at launch. Supported retailers for the service could include Best Buy, Burger King, Uber, Uber Eats, The Cheesecake Factory, Rappi, and La Comer, among others.
This would make Mexico the second country in Latin America to launch full Apple Pay support, the first being Brazil.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
