Apple Music beta hints at SongShift feature, which could allow for easy integration of music libraries and playlists from competing streaming services

It may soon become easier to migrate your streaming music service playlists over to Apple Music.

The Apple Music app appears to be beta testing an integration feature via a service called SongShift, which allows for music from other streaming services to be transferred over to Apple Music. The feature is currently being A/B tested in the latest beta version of Apple Music on Android, according to user reports on Reddit.

SongShift currently functions as a third-party service that has been available for users and allows users to easily migrate their music libraries and playlists between different music streaming services.

Apple appears to be testing native integration with SongShift, and a new prompt in Apple Music for Android that asks users if they want to “add saved music and playlists you made in other music services to your Apple Music library.” There’s also a new option for doing this through Apple Music’s settings on Android.

The prompt seems to only have appeared in a recent beta of Apple Music for Android, and the feature could still be in very early beta testing.

Whether Apple has plans also to bring SongShift integration to Apple Music on iPhone remains to be seen. Typically, however, Apple Music for Android and Apple Music for iPhone are kept at feature parity.

Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
