You were hankering for the iPad Pro at the media event.
And your wish came true.
Over at the “Hey Siri” media event, Apple introduced its 12.9-inch iPad Pro tablet. The unit, which features a 5.6 million pixel display, A9X processor, 10-hour battery and 4-speaker audio system with audio frequency balancing, will arrive in gold, silver and space gray colors.
Other new features include an 8 megapixel iSight camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, LTE support up to 150 mbps, a 6.99 millimeter thickness and 1.57 pound weight for the whole package.
Apple also apparently went bananas in favor of graphic artists and Apple Pencil, the company’s custom styles, which features assorted sensors, a Lightning connector for recharging and an iOS 9 feature called “Ink”, which support pressure sensitivity for the Apple Pencil. A doubled refresh sensitivity rate will also correspond to graphics applications and help enable more accurate communication with the Apple Pencil and other stylus models.
For those of you looking for the iPad to finally have a real keyboard, the company will be shipping the Smart Keyboard, which hooks into the iPad Pro via the new Smart Connector and communicates via the full size keyboard built into the Smart Keyboard case.
For the iPad mini fans out there, the company quickly mentioned the iPad mini 4, which places the iPad Air 2’s components inside the iPad mini 4 case.
The iPad Pro will ship in November and retail for US$799 for the 32GB model, US$899 for the 64GB model and US$1,099 for the 128GB model. The Smart Pencil will retail for US$99 while the Smart Keyboard will retail for US$169 and ship alongside the iPad Pro.
As always, please let us know what you make of this in the comments and we’ll have additional news and details as they become available.
