It looks like Apple’s letting some of its iMac inventory peter out as it looks towards an Apple Silicon future.
Only hours after officially discontinuing the iMac Pro, Apple has also discontinued the 512GB and 1TB SSD configurations of the 4K 21.5-inch iMac.
As of February, both the 512GB and 1TB SSD options became unavailable for purchase, though it was unclear at the time if this was a temporary issue given a component supply problem or if Apple simply no longer offered the option.
Apple has now removed both SSD option from the iMac’s configuration page entirely, leaving a 256GB SSD and a 1TB Fusion Drive as the only options for customers.
The company is said to be working on an all-new redesigned iMac featuring an Apple Silicon processor for release this year. A specific launch date has yet to be announced.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
