Apple CEO Tim Cook pledges aid to recovery efforts in Pakistan following intense rains and flooding

In the wake of Pakistan’s flooding disaster, Apple CEO Tim Cook has promised that the company will donate to flood relief and recovery efforts in Pakistan. The country was recently hit by severe glacial melt together with heavy monsoon rains that caused deadly floods.

Per NBC News, a third of Pakistan was underwater with more than 1,000 people killed due to severe flooding. NBC’s report also features an estimate of $10 billion in damage caused by continuous rains. The “monster monsoon” has swept away homes, crops, bridges, lives, and infrastructure and power and other supplies have been cut off in affected areas as well.

As a result of this, the United Nations has issued a flash appeal for flood relief and recovery emergency funds and urged the global community to give the country its attention and aid. The U.N. called for $160 million in emergency funds for Pakistan.

Following this, Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted that “Apple will donate to relief and recovery efforts on the ground.” Cook did not specify an exact amount of financial aid that the company would be providing.

If you can help out, please feel free to donate to causes helping the recovery effort.
