Your product’s packaging has to look pretty enough to be on an Apple Store shelf.
And Apple will help you with that.
A series of redesigned packages for several Mophie battery packs were recently spotted at an Apple Store in Japan. The boxes match the style used for Apple’s own products, with large images and minimalist text against a stark white background. It’s unknown how many other companies may have updated boxes on shelves.
It’s also been reported that accessory makers such as Incase, LifeProof, Logi, Sena, Tech21, and others will ultimately be taking part in the initiative, and indeed Apple itself is expected to change some accessory packaging to adapt to the new “premium feel” motif.
The changes come under the guidance of Apple retail head Angela Ahrendts and chief design guru Jony Ive, who seem to be working to make the Apple Store’s appearance more uniform and fashionable, perhaps with the goal of moving Apple Watch units.
The “premium” philosophy may also see some products disappear from shelves, as Apple is allegedly trying to limit accessories to higher-quality offerings.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
