It’s thought that Apple will simultaneously release both iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 next month, unlike last year’s staggered release of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.
Per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, sources within Apple have apparently stated that the company is considering the eighth betas of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 to be the final versions in all but name, “barring any unforeseen circumstances.”
The eighth beta versions were released to both the developer and public beta testing communities last week, quickly after the release of the sixth and seventh betas, indicating that Apple could be fast approaching the final stages as it prepares to install iOS 17 on iPhone 15 models coming off the assembly line.
In 2022, Apple released iPadOS on October 24, more than a month after iOS 16 officially went public. The decision to push the iPadOS 16 release back until later in the fall was to offer more time to work on the company’s then-new Stage Manager app window management system, which had received significant criticism in the beta development phase.
iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 will likely appear shortly after the iPhone 15 series is announced during Apple’s “Wonderlust” event on Tuesday, September 12. Apple plans to stream the fall event live on its website, on YouTube, and through the Apple TV app.
