A new report published on Thursday posits that Apple may be planning to introduce an iPad keyboard complete with a built-in trackpad.
While Apple has traditionally offered a Bluetooth keyboard for its iPads, iOS 13 added support for Bluetooth mice and keyboards. This latest rumor could tie into a previous rumor that the next Smart Keyboard could feature backlit keys and Apple’s new scissor switches.
Such a move would be welcome given that there aren’t that many iPad keyboards currently on the market that sport a trackpad. One source close to the story said that Apple has been experimenting with iPad trackpads for years.
Should the rumor prove true, there’s a chance that it could be released alongside the next-gen iPad Pro, which could emerge as soon as March 2020.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
