If you’re looking to upgrade your brand new 2019 Mac Pro and are willing to hurl some more money on it, you can now go the 8TB SSD route.
Apple has updated the Mac Pro configurator to include a new 8TB SSD option. This configuration was initially listed as coming soon when Mac Pro orders first began last week.
The 8TB SSD option arrives at a cost of $2,600 compared to the base 256GB configuration, allow for 32 times the local storage space if you’re willing to for over some greenbacks for it.
The Mac Pro wasn’t originally announced as having an 8TB configuration, but when the 16-inch MacBook Pro was announced with the option, Apple quietly added it to the Mac Pro as well.
The SSD component on the 2019 Mac Pro is the one area that is not directly upgradeable by the user after purchase. To this end, the user can rely on PCIe storage options to expand their storage on the computer.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
