Apple releases developer beta 7 versions of iOS 13, iPadOS 13, watchOS 6, and tvOS 13

It was a day of developer betas.

On Thursday, Apple seeded developer beta 7 versions of each of its operating systems with the exception of macOS Catalina.

First and foremost, iOS 13 and iPadOS 13’s seventh developer beta includes the following fixes and changes:

  • Greater outward-facing use of Dark Mode
  • An overhauled Photos app, which introduces a new Photos tab that curates your entire Photos library and shows you a selection of highlights organized by day, month, or year, and there are revamped Photo editing tools
  • Users can now edit video in the Photos app, alongside cropping, rotating, filtering, and adjustment tools for lighting and color
  • The Photos app contains a new High-Key Mono lighting effect, and for Portrait Lighting in general, intensity can be adjusted
  • There’s now a less obtrusive volume heads up display
  • A new Find My app combines Find My iPhone and Find My Friends and lets you track your devices even with they don’t have an LTE or WiFi connection
  • Sign In with Apple feature (not yet active) gives you a convenient and data safe way to sign into apps and websites, providing an alternative to Facebook and Google sign in options. Apple’s even able to generate single-use randomized email addresses so users don’t have to give their real info to apps and websites.
  • Maps now include a new street-level “Look Around” mode as well as a Collections feature for compiling lists of places.
  • Reminders has been overhauled for functionality
  • A new profile option in Messages can add Memoji and Animoji stickers
  • Siri features a new voice
  • CarPlay in iOS 13 has been overhauled with a new look
  • iOS 13 can support multiple sets of AirPods (or Powerbeats Pro) can be connected to the same phone so you can share music with a friend
  • Siri on HomePod can detect multiple voices for multi-user support, and HomePod also supports Handoff.

Apple also released the following notes for watchOS 6 beta 7:

  • Apps are correctly installed in the background when you unpair your watch from your phone then pair it again and no longer display erroneous alerts
  • Audio playback on your paired phone won’t pause while receiving notification alerts on your watch

tvOS 13 beta 7 includes the following major changes:

Registered developers will need to download the profile for the iOS 13 and iPadOS betas from Apple’s Developer Center. These betas, like earlier betas, can be downloaded over-the-air once the proper profile has been installed.

If you’ve had a chance to try the new betas and have any feedback to offer, please let us know about your experiences in the comments.
