Come July 1st, 2019, Apple will be shutting down its Back to My Mac service. The service currently allows users to set up a network of Macs that could be accessed remotely, as well as remotely access a different Mac.
The company has listed the following tools and services to help users transition out of Back to My Mac:
- File Sharing: iCloud Drive
- Screen Sharing: This can be found in System Preferences
- Remote Desktop Access: Apple Remote Desktop
As of 2018, Apple warned that it would shut down Back to My mac for MacOS Mojave, although it’s now clear that the service will be removed for all versions of macOS.
