YouTube live streaming service arrives for Apple TV

This is nifty.

In a surprise address on Wednesday, YouTube announced that its streaming live TV service is now available on Apple TV devices. In a tweet telling Apple TV owners to check the App Store, the official YouTube TV account disclosed that its app is now available on tvOS-based devices.

The launch, which had been scheduled for spring of 2017, was pushed back in December on the Roku and Apple TV platforms, the company stating it would launch in the first quarter of 2018 after failing to meet an October deadline.

YouTube TV allows users to bypass big-name cable providers to access premium channels for a flat $35 fee. The service is now available in up to 80 metro areas as of last month and now counts more than 50 networks as part of its package, with other channels available as purchasable add-ons.

If you’ve had a chance to try out YouTube’s live streaming service on your Apple TV and have any feedback to offer, let us know about your experience in the comments.
